Objectives

From this website students should be able to:

        -  Understand and explain the Law of Segregation and Independent Assortment.
        -  Solve problem question relating to Mendelian genetics.
        -  Apply Mendelian genetics laws in real life. 


What to do?


The first thing you should do is Study about Mendel's Experiment and his Laws, which are situated under Process. You will learn what Mendel did ,why and how he came up with the Laws of Segregation and Independent Assortment and what his Laws state and how  they are relevant in our real life. Each topics (Law of Segregation and Law of Independent Assortment) in the process are explained using pictures, videos and flash animation so you have to watch them all.

Than you have varies activities to assess yourself which is also under Process. We have designed the activities in such a way that it will help students get a better understanding of the concept. 

In the activities you will do the following things:
  • First look at a worked question/ example available. This would help you understand how to approach any Mendelian Genetics related concept/ question.
  • Than you will do some Exercise questions to practice what you have learnt in the example.
  • Than you will have to do a lab experiment so that you can understand what you have learnt better and use them in the field.
  • Than you have to do a online quiz to see assess yourself and your understanding about Mendelian Genetics.
  • Later you are provided with some educational games (Scramble, Hangman, Crossword puzzle) for you to play.

Than there is a evaluation form which you can use to assess yourself.
